Never Once

Standing on this mountaintop
Looking just how far we've come
Knowing that for every step
You were with us

Kneeling on this battle ground
Seeing just how much You've done
Knowing every victory
Is Your power in us

Scars and struggles on the way
But with joy our hearts can say
Yes, our hearts can say

Never once did we ever walk alone
Never once did You leave us on our own
You are faithful, God, You are faithful.

Never once did we ever walk alone
Never once did You leave us on our own
You are faithful, God, You are faithful
You are faithful, God, You are faithful

Scars and struggles on the way
But with joy our hearts can say
Never once did we ever walk alone
Carried by Your constant grace
Held within Your perfect peace
Never once, no, we never walk alone

Never once did we ever walk alone
Never once did You leave us on our own
You are faithful, God, You are faithful

Every step we are breathing in Your grace
Evermore we'll be breathing out Your praise
You are faithful, God, You are faithful
You are faithful, God, You are faithful

I'm not a huge fan of mainstream contemporary worship music, but these words were really powerful. I'm reminded that despite how scary the future looks God is still and will always be right there. I'm thankful.

Wake Him Up!

He was sleeping. I paused to look at him then looked at my bag of books and silently crept away.
Go back and wake him up!
Have mercy!
"God," I protested, "how rude!"
He needs a book! Go back and wake him up!
I went back.
"Hello!" I said, "hellooo?"
God, have mercy...
He woke up and stared at me, his eyes bugging out.
"No habla ingles."
I canvassed him in Spanish. I showed him the Paz (Peace).
He wanted to show it to his mom, but she was inside. I took the book back. Wait, never mind here she is.
I gave him back the book. He showed it to her. She bought it. What if I hadn't woken him up? What if I had been disobedient? Shiver.
God's mercy.
